01 / ABOUT THE PLACE

About this place

At Yogen Cafe, the experience begins with choosing a coffee and taking time to savour it, followed by a message from a member of staff. Visitors have noted the wide range of beans and carefully drip-brewed coffee, sometimes enjoyed with cake. The staff visit the table after serving the drink, a distinctive part of the experience here.

Choosing a bean may be easier if you start with the flavours you enjoy. The medium-roasted Ethiopia Yirgacheffe G1 Konga Cooperative Natural is described as floral, with fruit notes reminiscent of blueberries and apricots and a caramel-like sweetness. For a darker roast, Kenya Masai Aa offers cassis and citrus aromas, chocolate-like sweetness and richness, and a robust character. Somewhere between the two is the medium-dark Yogen Cafe Blend, made with Colombian, Brazilian and Mandheling coffees. Whether you want to compare the character of different beans or begin with a balanced blend, choosing is part of the pleasure.

If you fancy something sweet with your coffee, chocolate is one option: a visitor singled it out as a particularly good match. Another visitor wrote that they enjoyed the coffee jelly. Cake and coffee jelly are among the sweets available, so you can make coffee the focus and add a small treat.

Dine-in service is available, and the atmosphere is described as quiet and relaxed. It is a café for taking time over the coffee as well as a conversation at the table.
